Q1: Do I have to use the hose or is it optional?

A1: Yes, the cooling effect will be better when using the hose. The only way to keep a room cool is to make sure the cold air goes into the room and the hot air doesn’t, hence the vent hose. So you will want the exhaust vented outside.

Q2: What are the differences between ASHRAE, SACC and DOE BTU？

A2: ASHARE BTU is measured by ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers), whereas SACC or DOE BTU is measured by department of energy. These are essentially different measurement methods by two organizations. To put it simply, ASHRAE is the theoretic number that how many BTU the AC outputs, DOE is like what it actually outputs or what it’s feel like in various environment.

Q3: Does it have a reservoir to collect condensation or need a drain hose?

A3: Yes, it has a reservoir. Does not come with a drain hose. Condenser is cooled with the circulation of condensing water. If internal vessel fills with water such as under very humid conditions, unit shuts off and screen displays FL. Pull out water plug to drain.

Q4: No window can hole in wall do?

A4: You can cut a hole there that fits the Window Installation Plate. And you can also cut the window plate to fit your windows.
